Anti -pornography protests were a common theme in second-wave feminism, and this protest was one of many national examples of civil disobedience in protest of violent pornography. Many protestors, including those mentioned in this clipping, were arrested after ripping up magazines with examples of violent pornography.

While focused primarily in Peoria, Illinois, Out & About Illinois has information on events and places from Champaign to Rock Island.

QCPridefest is the Quad Cities yearly pride event to celebrate queer residents of the Quad Cities. Similar to the WeCare Weekends, QCPridefest is a full weekend of events, including a parade, drag shows, food, and vendors. QCPridefest happens alongside national pride celebrations for those in the queer community.
